Update on my situation... I had a hysterectomy September 28th. I am a little over 2 weeks into my recovery. I am already feeling so much better and so happy my nightmare is over. Now the medical bills are rolling in. When I went for my check up on October 7th. My doctor told me the testing on my uterus came back wonderful. No cancer, No endometriosis, nothing wrong with it at all. My ovaries looked great so I got to keep them. There was absolutely nothing they could find that would explain my constant bleeding, clotting, and cramping for 6 months. The bleeding started the day after I got the Essure in March. My doctor does believe it was the Essure that caused all that. I feel my body didn't like it and wanted it out.
Is there a lawsuit out there on this? I would like to look into it. If anyone has some information, please let me know. I am aware and understand there are risk with any procedure you do but no one ever disclosed to me that if for some reason the essure needed to come out it could result in a hysterectomy. That should be upfront information told before anyone ever makes the decission to get this done. Had I known this, I wouldn't of taken the risk.

Hi! Glad you are feeling better. If the problems didn't start till you had the procedure & now they seem to be resolving then it probably had something to do with the metal coils. This so called easy procedure cost me a lot of money & a lot of down time. I keep posting so that women will know that they are not alone. I also post because I hope that someone will be a little more careful than I was & do some research before having this procedure. I hope that they see our posts & really think about what will happen if there is a problem. I hope that no one else has a problem with this procedure but as I've posted before there are just too many IF"S with this procedure. Hope you continue to get better. Check back often as we have been talking to some attorneys. This will be a hard legal battle because the company wrote all the IF"S into the procedure. We all know that any procedure can have problems but when you really think about putting metal coils into soft tissue that naturally will try to expel the object, it just doesn't make sense. We are still dealing with the metal wire that they used 14 years ago for my husbands by-pass surgery. It seems it can corrode, break or come loose even being attached to the bone. We keep getting sent to different drs because it appears no one knows what to do about that either.

You can send me a private message with contact info if you like.

I know you had a tough unfortunate time with this procedure just as countless other women have as well. But you are facing one heck of a legal battle, big...as in big big. Pharmaceutical business is in the multi trillions, they will have a nearly invincible legal team which is why so many people do not bother to sue...or they do and rarely win. Their products are going to be laced with perfection, legally speaking. Doctors can face malpractice suits but they can win those with "I followed protocol" which they do follow otherwise they can lose their license, and then patients are left with nothing in the end. It is all in the words as you said "IF's in prodedure"...that locks them into a 100% case win nearly 100% of the time. I am not sure how you can win the case but I hope you do, it would be a good step, obviously it will not change the face of this procedure but it would get logged into legal documents for other people to use as reference material in their cases.

As for the metal object in soft tissue, I am not sure what you are meaning by this. Metal objects are placed in soft tissue quite a bit, with the risk that comes with anything as you mentioned. Example: pacemakers....metal object placed into soft heart tissues. Metal probes used for neurological procedures...definitely some soft tissue in the brain where they are placed. Cochlear implants in the soft tissue of the ear.

I have read all the threads on essure that everyone has been posting. So of coarse, i asked my doctor before having my essure done friday 10-15-2010. She said if you are still leaking and the coils didnt fuly take. Yes you can get pregnant. Yes there are cases to where a baby could have complications, but most pregnancies turn out just as normal as usual you just need to let your doctor know you had essure done. It is 98.8% effective on women after 3 months. So most women it does work on. As i said only the ones who have problems are on here looking for awnsers and solutions. I myself read everything and listened to everyone. I am confident in my doctor. I asked every question that came to me. Everything went great during and after my procedure. Everyones bodies are different and react differert. The doctor i went to has done inbetween 300-500, she lost count. But she is well experienced. I did my research on her before, where she practiced and she came highly qualified. If you would like to know more- please ask.

            Want Essure out!!!!

I am kind of depressed right now because I have never been to the Dr. with so many visits in my life. Don't know if it's related to the Essure, but I want them out! I had my surgery April 11, 2008. Everything seemed to be fine up until this last year. I have had increased left sided pain that is usually a throbbing annoyance until it's time for my menstrual cycle. The pain intensifies a day before my cycle starts and progresses throughout. My stomach blows up and it looks like I'm 8 months preggo. Funny things are starting to happen with my menstrual cycle as far as length and intensity changes. I've told my Dr. about the pain and he said that I was constipated because I don't have a daily bowel cycle. I've been that way my entire life and never had any complications. He told me to go on a 30 day yogurt intake to move the bowels. HELLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The pain was still there. At the beginning of this month, I went and had an ultrasound done because of a bad flareup. My Dr. thought I might have fibroids, so the US was negative. The female that had taken the pics pointed out my uterus on screen(nothing in there I could see) and where an insert was. She only showed me one.........hmmmmm.....So, my Dr. prescribed me Lortab for pain and take Miralax 1 Tbsp. twice a day. I feel that stuff doesn't work, so I take it here and there.

Anyways, I had another flareup that was worse about a week and a half ago. After eating dinner, the pain just came out of nowhere and my stomach started getting bigger and bigger. The pain was shooting all over the place. As a 33 y.o. mother of 4, I just broke down crying like a baby! This continued on for hours into the wee hours of the morning. Diarrhea came about and went away, then about 10 mins thereafter (sorry for being graphic), it felt like I had to go again. No sooner than I graced the commode, a big slew of fluids came bursting out of me like someone turned on a faucet. Finally I was able to get to bed and laid on my heating pad. It was already 4:50 in the morning and I had to get up at 6:50 to get kids ready for school.

My pain seems to be getting progressively worse and I have had UTI's and a bladder infection. I never had all these problems until my Essure procedure. Please help, I'm running out of thoughts of what could be going on (I know I'm not a doctor). I'm in pain everyday on the left side, which is usually dull and throbbing and it seems to progress during ovulation on to the menstrual cycle. I want the old "ME" back! I eat as healthy as possible and exercise, yet my midsection is going no where. Always bloated on a daily basis. Thanks!

              Essure; got pregnant; had miscarriage

Hi my name is Erin and I'm 29. After having our fourth child my husband and I decided that we wanted to have some type of permanent birth control without having to go through a major surgery so we elected to have Essure placed. I had if placed a few months after giving birth. It was placed in Feb 2008. We went on with our lives. At the time I did not have isurance so did not have an HSG done to see if it worked. Well 2 1/2 years later low and behold I find out I'm pregnant. We were in shock. We went to hospital to make sure it wasnt tubal and it was not. We thought everything was fine. Unfortunately just as we were getting over the fact that "what you had your tubes done and you're preg!" I had a miscarriage 12 weeks preg. We were devestated. I just had the HSG done and it shows that my tubes are indeed blocked. So I dont know what happened.

Picabo Street who was a paid spokesperson for Essure & had the procedure done is pregnant. You can bet she had the best drs so the failure of the procedure probably was not due to dr error. Conceptus is trying to claim that she got pregnant before having the 3 month HSG confirmation test. There are several articles on the subject. I need to do some more research but just what I've read so far it appears that she was past that 3 months before getting pregnant.
