I myself have the Essure method. I have been experience alot of pain since Ocotber or last yr in my pelvic. I had a laproscopy, hystroscopy, and dnc done today for the pain and abnormal periods. They couldn't figure out why I had the pain but when my doctor was in there he notice my coil in my right tube was pertuding/ buldging out. (forgive my spelling). He thinks that might be the reason for my pain so he is contacting the company and the doctor who did the procedure to see why that is. I had this procedure done in September of 2008. I am now feeling the same as you that it was a new method not researched properly so there's not enough information. I will inform everyone when I know more.

Interesting stories. I had the essure done Sept 2008. I did have the dye test that confirmed blockage by both the radiologist and my doctor. I have loved every aspect of having done the essure, no cramping, no problems, I thought I was the "perfect candidate" until just last month (almost 2 years later) I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant. I am not pregnant anymore and am going to the doctor tomorrow to find out A) if there is any tissue that needs to be removed; B) if they can see where the coils are now; C) what happened; and D) what to do next. I called essure and they did document my case and now from reading this I think I will file a FDA report. Wish me luck.

Keep checking the maude fda database just to make sure they make a report. I don't think they are making adverse event reports as they should. They will still play the blame game. The dr didn't put them in right, the radiologist & the dr didn't read the HSG right & if they can't explain it away with that they can always fall back on that nothing is 100%.

I would love to know or be a part of a class action lawsuit, I honestly feel that this procedure should not be allowed. I was thrilled with it at first, until my 4th HCG test that confirmed not only that my right side is still not sealed, after more than a year, but that my right spring is not alligned with the left either. I have since had a prolapse problem, which I believe is being caused by the spring trying to expel itself and tearing up my insides along with it. I would do anything to get them out, but am now uninsured. UGH, So sorry I ever got them in. I would have rather gone through surgery had I known what I know now.

                No Problem with Essure

I have had the procedure done 04/2010 and just had my follow-up HSG test. I had no problems with the insertion nor did I have any issues with the HSG test and everything was found to be normal and in place. You really need to research your Dr. and find one who is trained in the procedure, ask questions such as how many Essure procedures have been done, how long have they been trained to do the procedure, etc. This will ensure that you have a Dr who is knowledgeable and trained. Again, I had no problems, no pain, no long term issues. The actual procedure was uncomfortable because of the cramping but it was not painful at all. The HSG test was very easy, a pinch and some cramping and that was all..

                  As with anything:

As with anything there are going to be possible risks and complications. Not everyone responds to medical treatment or procedures the same and each body reacts differently. I have had the essure procedure done in April/2010 and just had my HSG test. I have had an overall good experiences, no issues, no problems, no pain, and the test showed that the coils were in place. I understand people have their problems but there is no point in scaring off another person who the procedure may work for. If someone has a tubal litigation done and gets a horrible infection or suddenly becomes pregnant that does not mean that every person who gets that done will have the same issues. Any problems that accompany this procedure has to take into consideration the DR. who completes the process, the after care, how your body reacts to the coils, etc. Just keep that in mind if you are getting this done. It's as I always have said people online who blog and testify about their horrid experiences are upset and need to vent. Those who have great experiences do not feel the need to post because they are pleased with their results... so just consider everything before jumping to conclusions.

I think most of us have acknowledged that the metal coils have worked for some. We post our stories to help other women or get support from other women. We post so that other women may make a better informed decision. Most of us were not told all the facts about this procedure, some of us were used by our drs to gain experience or meet quotas that the company requires for all the free incentives that they give the drs to do this procedure. I recall a post on the Aphrodites forum that a dr told a woman he'd done about 150,000 essure procedures. He was a pro. Only thing was according to the company sales reports at that time there had only been about 170,000 procedures performed worldwide. A dr does not have to tell you that he/she has no experience, they don't have to tell you that they are preceptoring. Many women if they knew the dr had little experience would not use that dr so the dr may not be honest about it. If there is one thing I've found out, drs are not always trustworthy & ethical. You can develop infections from the metal coils, you can develop allergic reactions to the nickel & worse of all it has been documented not just on the forums that metal coils can & do come out of place. They have been found in abdomen. Most women had to go thru much pain & distress to get help. We try to give the knowledge that it may not be all in their head, that there is proof of problems & to insist that a dr take a look at the metal coils as being the problem especially when the problems didn't start till after placement.
