Hi I had my essure put in about a year ago and since then I regreat the WHOLE thing!!!My doctor was persistance when he wanted to put mine in.Well when I went it was his first time putting in my essures so basically I was his ''guenie pig''.While another doctor directed him on how to do it.The day afterwards I can feel them in me cause it felt bruised but I felt okay enough to do whatever. But acouple months later and happening since til right now as I sit here writing this,I get pain crusiating pain that cramps from my lower back All the wayy down to my right leg,And stays like that for acouple hours on and off even goes to my foot sometime,Im not one to cry during pain but this pain has put me in tears.Ive called my doctor and all they tell me is its normal,Whats normal about having that bad of pain once amonth sometimes threwout the month!?!Right now I am alittle worried since I am excpecting my period and there is only 6more days in this month,And I keep getting small cramping feelings and discharge, and peeing alot, and heartburn threw out the month but no period yet.My biggest concern is this pain ever since I had the stupid idea of getting this essure put in me. -
Welcome to the Forum tiff...
Personally, I would have been stressed to the hilt if a Doctor chose to proceed with something, with other Doctors directing them, probably, ran for the hills...
Sorry that you had to go through that and more so the pain your going through...
I would suggest you go and see an alternative Doctor... No one should suffer in pain over something...

I too had an overall good experience with the essure procedure. I was just part of the .03% that it failed on. We still don’t know why. But I knew that was part of the risk and I was willing to take it.
I am just now recovering from laparoscopic tubal surgery. I still have my coils in place as well (double protection now LOL). I still tell my friends what a great procedure essure is. It's just unfortunate that I got pregnant 2 and a half or so years later. I had no problems before I got pregnant. I loved the procedure.
Now I am wanting to make sure that my case is documented for knowledge.Comment

Thankyou ^^^ So much!!Yeah me and my husband kept having second thoughts and I was sooo scared but every week up til the morning I had the essure put in me the doctors office would call and say your still coming in right,It was like so much pressure. With my ENTIRE pregnancy with my daughter the doctor I think had something against my husband and would be kinda prickish,So we were going to switch doctors like 3weeks before my due date and desided not too.Which I reagreat 100percent.But since my experience with that doctor I am terrified to go to any Gyno,And I do majorily reagreat getting this put in me.The only reason why I did was after my daughter was born I asked the doctor whats a good birthcontrol and he told me essure the sad thing is we believe he did it cause he dont like the whole husband and the fact that I get state insurence and I had one boy and one girl already but he also should of took into consideration and said your only 23 and you have your whole life to decide if you want one more or not.I think he just had noone to do a ''experiment'' on,But I also relise I could have said no and ran the other direction!!But Im one who has trouble saying no.Though threw this experience I learned to start stickking up for myself and saying NOO!!Comment

Essure Problems
Hi !
Im sorry you are one of the many women experiencing problems do to Essure. I had my procedure in October of 2007. Like some women I only experienced the "normal" cramping and the common right side difficulty placing the coils.
However, I have experienced a long list of adverse effects, I believed are due to this procedure. In May of 2008 I discovered a tender spot on my vagina. A day after it was obvious that it was a problem and I was diagnosted with "Bartholins Gland or Cyst. (Not a nice experience). Then Urinary Track Infections, kidney Infections, Inguinal pain ( part where legg begins) that runs to the knee and back pain. Long & heavy periods. May 2009 the Bartholins Gland flaired up again. Recurring every two months. Finally someone culture the cyst to find a staph infection! I also feel something protruding and moving on my right side. Unfortunately I also can't ejnoy sexual intercourse due to the pain. I most ephazise to all that I did not encounter any of these health issues before my procedure. In fact I worked out every day and ate a balance diet. Drink only socially and don't smoke. I also had my daughter 10 years before this procedure.*Removed advertising information*
I am a stay home wife, so I have a lot of time to research on this issue. I must tell all the ladys in this forum that all the Countries currently using this procedure are exhibiting the same problems. I will continue to document every change in my body including after removal. Will make sure that my new doctor document any finding to the respective medical authorities and the FDA. I don't believe in lawsuits, but this product has change my life negatively. My marriage has suffer and my daughter now ask me If I feel better before she wants to do anything with me.
I am currently searching for legal avenues. Will keep you inform of any positive findings in the future.
Good Luck & Good Health
Sincerely,
SemoiiComment

Hi! Sorry for your difficulties. I also did not believe in lawsuits but after my experience with the metal coils I firmly believe that the threat of lawsuits is the only thing that might keep some companies honest. I've done lots of research also. I've recently discovered that the FDA has no authority to pull a product from the market, they can only issue warning letters to the companies. The companies can comply or refuse. I've also learned that congress may be looking at giving the FDA the authority to pull products off the market. Another option that is being talked about is the people who knowingly put out a bad product could be held criminally liable. Being able to prosecute those companies would probably work better than lawsuits. I've done so much research & I am appalled at the lack of oversight by the FDA. I'm absolutely stunned at just how many products have had something major wrong with them but yet nothing is done. I really encourage you to make a report to the FDA. Thanks for sharing. Women really need to know this procedure carries some major risks with it. They need to know that they may end up spending thousands of dollars to try to get the things removed.Comment

I am new to this site and felt I needed to join. I was browsing the internet a little while back to see what experiences women have had with the Essure. I sure do wish I saw this site before getting the Essure. Wow, After reading everyone's stories, I feel I need to tell mine. It has been a nightmare ever since. Here is my story...
I got the Essure almost 6 months ago and I have bled pretty much 5 of those 6 months. I got the Essure March 22, 2010... started bleeding the next day for 9 days through April 1st. Just thought maybe it was my first period since having my baby in January 2010, so it was heavy and long... then I started again 2 weeks later which I thought was strange so soon. That was April 19th.
When bleeding for 20 days I called the doctor. They thought that the Depo shot they gave me a week before my surgery was causing the crazy bleeding which would be out of my system in the first part of June. They said that maybe I needed a couple months of birth control to regulate me and it would stop the bleeding. So I gladly got the 2 months of pills. I took the full 2 months of pills and 6 days after finishing them I finally stopped bleeding which was July 1st. I bled for 10 solid weeks!!! So thinking hopefully I would be regulated and since the Depo would be out of my system then hopefully I would be back to normal.
I started my period again on July 30th. I thought it was pretty normal being 30 days since I stopped bleeding. August 7th I noticed it was slowing down so I thought YES! maybe I am going to stop and this would be like a normal 7 day period. NOPE I was wrong. It stopped for like half a day then started back up again and slowly got heavier. By August 11th I noticed small clotting and didn't really think much about it. August 14th, I was only wearing a pad because I was lightly bleeding and while sitting there I felt a HUGE GUSH! I went to the bathroom and there was a HUGE BLOOD CLOT sitting in my pad. It wouldn't even absorb it. It was probably the size of a half dollar coin. Lets just say that day I bled so heavy I went through a SUPER tampon and a pad every 2 hours. I also passed 6 HUGE blood clots bigger than the size of a quarter. I also was cramping really really bad so I decided to call the doctor on Monday. Go figured, Sunday it slowed down again.
Monday the 16th. I called the doctor. When the nurse called me back she gave me the dumbest answer I have ever heard. She said... "We think you are just irregular and need to be on birth control pills to regulate you" um no that's bull ! That's the whole reason I got the Essure so I don't have to take a pill everyday. Knowing the Essure has nothing to do with regulating your cycle. Then I asked how does she explain the clotting. You will not believe what she said. She said "some women tend to clot as they get older" WHAT??? I'M 26! NO I'M NOT EXCEPTING THAT ANSWER EITHER! So I told her to set me up an appointment for the doctor.
The next day I went to the doctor and she agreed that the clotting is not normal for my age and also my history shows I've always been regular. After having my 1st child, I did not go back on birth control. I took your daily vitamins and ate right. I was so regular, every 30 days. My birth control was knowing exactly when I would start and when I would ovulate. You can't get any more regular than that. She also agreed with me that even if I was irregular it wouldn't cause me to bleed CONTINUOUSLY. She set up an ultrasound for Monday August 23rd to see if we could find anything that looked out of the norm that might explain or make sense to why I'm bleeding like this.
Also, before going to this appt. I looked up women that have had the Essure and their experiences with it. I found this website and found this forum. So I read this to see if I could find anyone with the same problems as me... At the time this was only 43 pages and I only read the first 12 pages. What I found made me sick at my stomach. I printed off the stories that matched mine and took them to my Doctor. She looked at me and as honest as she could be. She told me, She had absolutely no idea if it could be the Essure causing it and honestly didn't know how it could.
Anyway, Monday the 23rd we did the ultrasound. My uterus and ovaries look GREAT! The Essure coils are also right where they are supposed to be. There was NOTHING that would explain the constant bleeding and constant cramping. Kind of what I figured was going to be the answer especially after everything I read. I don't think my body likes it in there. Or maybe I am allergic to something it is made out of. I am really not sure but what I do know is I didn't have these problems before and they started as soon as I got the Essure. Either way my doctor said she could give me BC pills but they wouldn't necessarily help the cramping just control the bleeding. And who wants to do that when your done having kids. I couldn't imagine continuing to cramp like this either. The other idea was an ablasion... not sure if I spelled that right but they put a balloon in your uterus and burn the lining of your wall which would give you lighter periods. Well, I already have light periods and my lining of my wall was very thin on the ultrasound my problem is it wont stop and they won't do anything about the cramping either. So she said that in my situation, she thinks the best thing for me to do is to do a hysterectomy and get the Essure out!
Of course they are going to leave my ovaries since they looked great so that is a plus. But seriously! I know that with anything you do there are things that can happen. And with this being so new, I think allot of doctors do not know all the affects it can have on your body. But I do believe all doctors should know enough to say... " If for any reason at all that your body does not take well to the Essure and they have to come out at some point this may and most likely will result in a hysterectomy" That bit of information should be told up front before EVER making the decision to get this done. Oh yes, this procedure is simply, easy, and quick. But can result in a major surgery and recovery. Women need to know this before making this decision. I would of NEVER got this if I knew it could end up like this. My daughter is 7 months old and its going to be hard for me to not lift her in anyway while I am recovering from surgery. My hysterectomy is scheduled for September 28, 2010. I am ready to get this out and get my life back! I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROCEDURE TO ANYONE! It seriously is not worth the risk!Comment

Essure failed to be inserted....tubes clamped down.
I am 35 years old. I have one child and went to have Essure done in June. I was in the office for 45 minutes to 1 hour with the doctor trying several times to get the coils in my tubes but she was unsuccessful. The doctor said my tubes kept clamping down before the coils would go in. The procedure was uncomfortable enought to the point I requested to go under anesthesia if I wanted to try again. The doctor says I was her first failure, as far as not being able to get the coils in the tubes. Now the office tells me I cannot have the procedure under anesthesia with this doctor which is the only one my insurance covers for this. So my plan is to get a tubal ligation and be done with this mess. I was wondering has anyone had their tubes clamp down enought that the coils would not go in? By the way after all the drama of the procedure not working I still bled off and on for 3 weeks. Thanks for any input.Comment

Auzchik, Is your doctor not able to remove your coils laparoscopically? How is is your hysterectomy being done? laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy, or open? I ultimately through it all, had a lap vaginal hysterectomy this past March and have had no problems. My recovery was REMARKABLE! (but that is another forum)Comment
