    Hi everyone,

I saw this post and thought I would register.

I have had the same problems 3-4 times a year every year for 12 years , and even when I don't get it I'm paranoid I will so I can never relax.

Recently I have had it 3 weeks non stop and went mental. Nothing worked (pill, pessary, cream, garlic, aloe vera....)
The nurse took a few swabs and said that I would get a treatment if it turns out to be yest infection. hope it works.

In the meantime I use cream and have to change my pants every few hours!

And rather interestingly this has given me an idea to create a new life-changing type of underwear

(edit link) Market research permission must be obtained from the Operations Manager of this Forum

    thanks

    Aurora

I have been fighting BV for 18 months now. I have done Flagyl ( 4times) Metrogel (3times) Hydrogen Peroxide, slept w yogurt in me, take probiotics, eat yogurt and take folic acid every day. I don't wear a bathing suit, underwear and sleep naked. I have changed ALOT of aspects of my life and it comes back every month around my period.......... The doctor that wrote me the script for all the Flagyl/metrogel ( with 5 refills) never examined me just listened to my symptoms. So I felt it coming on last week. ( I can tell when it is coming when I take a shower and notice a different odor when i am washing) So I went to our local health dept ( I had told a nurse practitioner I deal w at work my problem w this BV and she said next time I felt it coming on to come over and she wanted to look at me) and she found nothing.. Said my ph was normal and my cells looked normal. Well three days later I was having sex w my husband it there it was full force.. A carp in the bedroom..... I am so frustrated.. So now I am trying this otc stuff called VH essentials, BV Treatment homeopathic vaginal inserts... Anyone tried this product? ... I am hoping this will solve it for the time being....... Any suggestions would be appreciated..... Noone realizes how frustrating it is to get this chronically. My friends think I am nuts and I am beginning to believe it myself.

Hello. I'm also suffering from BV. I'm 13 years old, and I can't do anything about it, really.
It all started last week or so, when my period started. It was going to be my second period. The first two days were perfectly fine, but then came the gross fish smell and green discharge. At first I thought, "It'll probably go away... right?".
But I did alot of resarch, and found out that BV has no real cure. They'll give you all this medicine, but it never gets rid of it. Am I right?
I've read [outbound links not allowed, removed] that apple cider vinegar works; taking a bath in it.
        Does it really?
Does hydrogen peroxide also work? How does it?
        I can't get a douche or anything well cause, i'm only 13.
I can probably have an apple cider vinegar bath.
I have hydrogen peroxide at home. How can i use it?

I think i got BV because i was doing the showerhead way of masturbating...>___<
        Can anyone please help me?

            Maybe I can help?

Hey my name is Amy and yes I have the same problem you girls do! Going on 3 years now unfortunetly. I have the same story so I'm not going to be repetitive.
BUT! I resently opened up to one of my girlfreinds about my problem and turns out she struggles with the same thing! I asked her if anything has worked for her and she told me that the only thing that has worked for her is probiotics. She told me of one brand she has used in particular by Natural Factors with Acidophilis and Bifidus. It's not expensive! You can find it in health food stores, Wegman's carries it(in refrigerated section of probiotics), and online of coarse.
How to use? Put one in vagina twice a day for 3 day then go to one at night for a few nights. You will notice an improvement quickly. You can also take orally obviously.. but not as potent.
How does it work? So this probiotic in particular has gel capsules which dissolve easily and quickly in the vagina. The probiotics are filled with good bacteria that your vagina is lacking right now. The good bacteria help to kill off the bad bacteria thats causing the discomfort/discharge/odor.
It's the only thing that's ever worked for me. And it's holistic!
Every woman is different but I hope this can help one of you beautiful ladies too! Hope the best for yall and more so I hope for a cure to this wretched curse!!!!!!!

            -Amy

Omg I hear ya girl I've been going on 3 years with constant bv. I think it's getting better and then it comes right back. I know how frustrating and embarrasing it is! I have tried the VH essentials and it did not work for me it actually made things worse and gave me a really foul odor with a lot of thick yellowish discharge.
I've taken flagyl and metro coutless times just to get it again and again. I have a lot of sympathy for you b/c I KNOW HOW IT IS! I have no sex drive, I'm so frickin self conscious about the way I smell it's taken a huge blow to my relationships and confidence. Your not alone!

I am so happy I came across this website. Seeing all my fellow females having the same issue I'm having gives me some sort of relief.... I am 37 years old and have been STRUGGLING with the bv for 4-5 years now. The first time I got it, I was treated with antibiotics and it went away completely for almost a whole year. But these last 4 years have been a challenge. I purchased a web book that states how to take care of it naturally and it says the same things you (gatorgirl) have listed here except for the tea tree oil and vinegar. The other difference is the book recommended the hydrogen peroxide douche twice a day and to leave it sit inside for about 5 minutes. When the bv is in full swing you get frothy suds comming out of the vjay but it truely helps with the smell and itching. I was wondering though do any of you wonderful ladies out there treat the bv and end up with yeast infection or treat the yeast and end up with a bv flair up? It seems like I do. The terrible part is I have started getting super tender and sore on the outside. The labia sometimes crack and I get little blood spots and boy does that sting. The other thing I notice is I can be perfectly fine and then I will have sex with my husband and I'm right back to square 1. I had thought maybe I was allergic to his semen until I learned that was not possible. But I do notice that my infections are worse if I do not go rinse out down there immediately after intercourse. For a while I thought my husband had cheated on me and I had some weird STD but my doctor keeps telling me it's bv (AGAIN). Talk about stress!

Another strange thing I have noticed is I can get the itching without the smell or discharge and if I do the peroxide rinse and folic acid and probiotics for a few days it will subside for a week if I'm lucky, but I am stuck with the pain and discomfort and the knowing this NEVER seems to go away...all the way away. I wish that someone could invent the cure for this dumb infection. Thank you everyone for listening and hopefully someday we won't have to be in this boat.

Hi ladies, I wanted to say that I feel your pain. I was afflicted by BV in May 2011 and was diagnosed in September. My doctor was negligent and I didn't know what exactly was wrong with me until a started reading the forums. When doctor finally discovered the bacterial growth, I knew what was wrong. The fishy smell, the white discharge, it all made sense. I also knew that the chances of BV returning were pretty high. I cried, because I knew how bad the disease was. I kept reading all your posts and researched every single website there is. My doctor prescribed me Metrodinazole gel. I knew before I started treatment that antiobiotics will kill all bacteria - good and bad and I knew that the gel will cause a vicious yeast infection. So on the first day of treatment I also took acidophiles pills, which I bought from the store. I knew that BV is related to smoking and I stopped smoking for two weeks completely. Not even one cigarette. To fight the caused yeast infection I eat yoghurt every day and I even used the gel applicators to stick it inside my vagina. I had an yeast infection for a week after the treatment, but gradually went away. I have a sex partner since february 2011 and thankfully he understood. We did not have sex for a month. I recently started having sex with him, but we now use condoms. I know that sperm can tip the ph balance, so condoms seem to be a good solution. So far it has been about a month and a half and the smell is gone. The discharge is still there, but I think it is getting better by the day. I am praying that the disease will not come back, although I am aware that it could return within 3 months and even a year. I also wanted to warn you ladies taking Metrodinazole that it is cancerous, and if you could avoid it and use natural remedies, it will be best. Good luck fighting this horrible horrible thing.

Just curious, where did this information come from? Is there a legitimate scientific source to support that it is cancerous? Also, the second a pill form is made of anything it is not 'natural'. Acidophilus pills are made in a lab, not from the natural source. Real acidophilus is in yogurt because they are bacteria.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

ItsASecret, it says it on the packaging of the Metrogel. In lab tests they discovered that rats could develop cancer. I am not sure about the acidophiles pills, I know they are synthetic, but it does seem to be a better solution than antibiotics
