Thanks! I was really questioning it too, but I thought... what do I know. I think I will be getting a second opinion from someone. But another questions... This obviously is a common problem for others as well as myself. If it won't go away, what affect does it have when pregnant. I'm not yet, but we are looking at starting our family soon. Wouldn't having an infection like that be harmful to the baby?

Do you know approximately how long it took for you to receive your Bio-Fem?

Good guess! I went to my GYN asking for hormonal test do to fatigue and trouble with loosing weight despite a very strict diet and 3 months of training for a half marathon. I also talked to her about reoccurring BV. Basically she thought I was an idiot who didn't know how to bath or wipe my properly. Vitamin D deficiency is linked to BV and I know that vitamin d plays a role in hormones. BV finally cleared up with no antibiotics.

              Hello,
Wow i cant believe you have had it for that long!!! Sorry to hear that.
I too have BV and i have had it for years now myself, but not as long as you. I have had the same sex partner for 9 years so there is no way its multiple sex partners like they say.
My doctor has given me flagyl meds, which take it away or help it for maybe a couple weeks if that.
He tried to say that once woman have children their bodys change, but i wont take that answer as all my friends have children and NO BV.
My mother in law strongly believes in natural paths, she had this problem with puscular infections all over her hands, she went to every doctor and specialist, and they all said they have never seen this and that there is no cure. she was fighting this for years, having to wrap her hands everyday with ceran wrap and meds that didn't work.
She went to see a natural path and to this day she has nothing on her hands.
I am going to see one in a few weeks, i know its expensive. But if it works which i have a very good feeling that it will. I will let you and every other woman suffering from this horrible infection.
Crossing my fingers that i can finally live a normal life again.

I have been suffering with chronic bv since 2004 and have been to the doctor numerous times trying to treat this. When I first notice that fishy smell I immediately went to the doctor and they told me that I had an bacterial infection and prescribe me some flagyl, I took that for seven days and I notice the smell was gone but returned within a week. I was devastated and felt embarrass to even go back to the doctor for the same reason. So during my pap I as the doctor about it again and was prescribed flagyl for a second time. Several years later and can not tell you how many times I have taken flagyl. So I started doing research and came across RepHresh and that took the smell away for those three days but it was a lot of discharge that came along with taking that but it was a pain in my pocket after awhile, having to go buy it every three days to maintain the smell. Anyway, I stumbled onto this site and read a lot of interesting things and came across one post that mention Vitamin D supplements, so I rushed to the local drugs store to buy a bottle, I bought 2000iu and took two and the next I notice a huge change and now its been four days and the odor is gone and there is no discharge. I am sooo happy because I have been suffering with this for so long. I just wish I knew about this six years ago. So you all that are long time suffers and feel as though you have tried everything ( like myself) do not hesistate to go and buy a bottle of Vitamin D and for those that are, go and talk to your doctor (the one that has been giving you all the flagyl pills, lol).

Im not sure how to post a new thread but maybe i can get some answers this way. Is anyone taking Alli? Im wondering if there is a correlation with BV and the diet pill Alli.

Any medication or pill you take has the potential of altering the pH of your body/vagina. Personally, I've had BV for a year and a half now and I don't take anything aside from my supplements. I used to take allergy medicine, but have noticed 0 difference since stopping them in terms of the BV.
