I think that the risks of a woman leaving her SO for a dildo are about the same as for a man leaving his SO for a porn star. (zero).
Otherwise I think the effects are similar. The man can become accustomed to the exotic behaviours in porn movies and become either too demanding in bed, or lose interest in conventional sex. The woman can become accustomed to the strong sensations provided by sex toys and either require them in lovemaking or lose interest in sex.
The second DOES happen. I've complained many times that my wife rarely wants to have sex. She does masturbate with sex toys though - so in some sense I HAVE been left for a vibrator.

How so?
As far as masturbation aids....they have a similar effect.
As far as things that cause sexual dysfunction....they have a similar effect.
Sadly, the only way they AREN'T different, is that women tend to get way more offended by porn than men seem to get by sex toys.
Which is funny....since women can and do use vibrating toys AND porn at the same time. And the vast majority of us guys just don't have that option. Poor us.Comment

Why? Because one may make a woman insecure and the other may make a guy insecure?
Bottom line is that they can both be viewed as 'filler' or replacements to pleaseure with/from your SO, how an individual interprets this is something entirely on that person that needs to be handled between the two people. Not all women flip out about their men watching porn from time to time, but a good deal do. Not all men take offense to their women using sex toys, but some do, specifically if the toy provides more function/utility than said man. You can't tell me for one second that a woman with a dildo larger than her husbands unit is really thinkin of him while she uses it on herself.
In regards to the sex toy issue, women are moving forward fast in their sexuality, that is shown more and more in the availability and market for sex toys. For crying out loud you can by that from QVC if you catch it at the right time slot.
At the end of the day it comes down to feelings, is one hurting the others feelings, this is the arguement. Right or wrong is completely subjective, though I personally think it very bias to declare one acceptable and the other not.Comment

Lacking the Y chromosome would have nothing to do with this correct?Fact - women have testosterone levels on average TEN TIMES LESS than their male counterparts. Seems scientific they would be less inclined to explore their sexuality. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

Please keep in mind I didn't say dildo good, porn bad.
I said the subject is porn in a relationship not dildos in a relationship. Its a seperate issue. I don't disagree that both can cause insecurities in some partners, especially where they don't get as much action as the outlet of choice-- but they are entirely different issues.
Women more stimulated by touch than visually may prefer a dildo when their so isn't touching them.
Men more stimulated by visuals prefering porn can feel to a woman like she is insufficient visually.
When she is able to bring her man to orgasm, with no problems and he still chooses porn visuals over her visuals it feels pretty bad.
If a man is bringing his woman to orgasm and she still chooses a dildo instead of his penis, surely it can feel bad.
Visual stimulation however is everywhere when a guy leaves the house... A dildo is put away in a dresser. So I feel like the insecurity of your guy wanting to be stimulated by girls -- they are real btw, photoshopped or not they are looking at girls they see in stores and at work.
Men don't have to wonder when their chick leaves the house if she's bumping into dildos on the street she prefers to him.
Its just two different things - why they have to be lumped in together is not beyond my comprehension but is frustrating
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.Comment

From this day and on I'm going to stop arguing about porn here, I doubt I'm even going to read any porn threads anymore. It doesn't matter what arguments men use to prove that what they do is "normal", simply because my man has turned from a frequent porn viewer into a non-porn viewer, told me so himself, and is very happy with the way things are even without it. The sex life is also way better lately and I can only assume that this is somehow related to no porn.
Those who insist that it's "a man's thing"... oh well... each to their own. I won't try to convince you that it's not.
p.s. a fast fact for the ladies: not all men watch porn, and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. Of course those who do, do so because of hundreds of different reasons, but if it really bothers you, then spot the reasons and try to figure it out. It's not an unsolved mystery. The myth has been busted yet again.
Good luck with the rest of the postings in this thread!Comment

do not break up only for this reason...u spent 10 yrs , it means he has something good also to be your partner,,,,sex is not everything in keeping relationship.......If you are in a great and healthy relationship then porn should not be necessary SO obviously my relationship is not healthy nor great
but be firm and stick to your this stand if u believe in it....he may realize one day.....
otherwise again, people can live together with differences of opinion.Comment
