It seems obvious to you because of your bias. You seem to hold the opinion that you can get any woman on the planet. That requires that all heterosexual women be open to homosexual activity. That's the initial point I was contesting and still do. It most certainly is not obvious. What's obvious, if you're serious (which is hard to wrap my mind around) is that you're delusional.
The second point I contest is that a man has anything to worry about regarding the average woman's sexuality. I cited a recent paper that showed a mostly equal number of non-heterosexual women and men. There were more bisexual women, but not so much that a man has anything to worry about, just looking at the numbers. One of your studies showed similar numbers.
The third point is regarding fluidity. Of course more women are experimenting with and exploring lesbianism! Multiple women is supposed to be the ultimate male fantasy. Pornography has put it at the touch of every man's fingertips. Women (especially young, unsure women) who want male attention may feel the need to kiss or go further with other women. It's not subject to the same negativity as male homosexuality. A woman has a lot more incentive to explore and lacks the same consequences. Many men wouldn't even consider a lesbian affair cheating. They'd probably want to get in on it. How many women would feel that way about their men? None of that adds up to female sexuality being more fluid than male sexuality, from what I've seen."Those sowing seed with tears

You're mixing and matching. Please look at the data. I said the greater incidence of bisexuality in women is obvious, which is clearly evident in the data. You seem to imply that this isn't so and then point to my exchange with Something re: his GF as what's actually being contested when it's not. Do you acknowledge that the data indicates a greater incidence of bisexuality in women? If not, why not? Please answer those questions.Originally posted by StillnessIt seems obvious to you because of your bias.
I cited numerous studies, all of which showed a distinct (and sometimes striking) greater incidence of bisexuality in women. All you've done in the way of acknowledging that thus far as a brief nod while holding forth on some other point. You're intellectual integrity is on the line here. The second point I contest is that a man has anything to worry about regarding the average woman's sexuality. Those are fair points, and at least here you seem to be arguing honestly. All I've basically done is assert my informed opinion (as a bisexual woman who has a lot of experience with this). Your opinion counts too, but I don't think it necessarily carries more weight than those of the people who have published articles analyzing the data from the studies, meaning that if I have to weigh the merits at this point, I'm personally siding with their conclusions rather than yours. The third point is regarding fluidity. For all practical purposes, I do hold something akin to that opinion, yes, altho I reject some of the terms you've cynically chosen to couch it in. What I said specifically is that I was confident I could seduce Something's GF, based on my extensive experience doing just that, my knowledge of women in general (being one and all, unlike you), and the fact that I've never been rejected before. You transformed that into an egomaniac's boast that she could get any woman on the planet. For what reason I'm not sure, but it suggests to me that you feel so threatened by the possibility that you felt you had to lash out.You seem to hold the opinion that you can get any woman on the planet. Last thing - take care with the obtuse insults. You've made a few fairly cowardly round-the-bend unflattering references to me in this thread (I'm playing with Something's mind, etc.), some rather plainly maligning my character. While I'm not particularly troubled by any of that as I've seen quite a bit worse, I take exception to having to navigate thru an otherwise serious thread amid those portrayals while maintaining my integrity and not personally counter-attacking you. You don't want to trifle with me, Stillness. If I see anymore of that, I'm going to have a discussion with the WHF admin.Comment

With all of your reliance on data, I find this argument most amusing as it is not supported by a single thread of proof. Do you seriously think that a woman's sexuality is dependent upon how lesbianism is portrayed in pornography or that she is secretly attempting to seduce more men by playing to our fantasies? Wow.The third point is regarding fluidity. Of course more women are experimenting with and exploring lesbianism! Multiple women is supposed to be the ultimate male fantasy. How about the most obvious -- women are far more comfortable exploring their sexuality then men. I agree, the consequences are far reduced, making the exploration far easier. But doesn't that prove the point? If more women are exploring bisexual behavior those women must view their sexuality as more fluid and less categorical."The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you." The internet is also known as the world wide web of lies. Lots of blogs lie. Lots of people make things up. In this case the blog seems to be accurately reporting what is in the paper (at a quick scan), and huffington post is not too bad in general, but it is reasonable for people to be suspicious. Refereed journals (like the article linked in the blog) are generally more reliable (if not perfect).
Again, it looks like the blog was correctly reporting what was in the paper, but paranoia is good on the web.
I did explain why I quoted the blog (a condensation of the data rather than me typing a bunch more stats), but I still see no reason why a blog with any particular title would affect the data from the cited study unless they were lying about the numbers, which seems unlikely from HuffPost. I didn't cite the analysis of the blog at all, and I did list the study being cited explicitly so that anyone caring to verify could do so fairly easily.
Saying that because a blog has a title that you may not not like or find threatening, the data from the study it cites is invalid, would be completely invalid itself. The main point here tho is that Stillness seems to be spinning his wheels pointing at things like that rather than acknowledging the obvious - a point that he contested eagerly up the thread.Comment

Effy, yes. The views on sexuality are shifting. That's affecting everyone - women and men. And women who want men do things for their attention, just like men do things for women. There's no secret about it.
If you're saying women's sexuality is more fluid than men's, I guess I would have to know how fluid men's sexuality is first to compare. I've never seen any indication that there's a difference.
Jen, I'm as threatened by you thinking your charms can get any woman as I am by you thinking that men are intellectually inferior. The reason I came in on the discussion was because Something expressed some real discomfort at what I think are false ideas.
I'll end my part in the discussion here before you have to run to the moderators with any concerns. I've made my points. Thanks."Those sowing seed with tears

Gay dudes seem to sleep around a lot, so maybe that's why they don't get married? I have seen a lot of married gay guys though in Los Angeles. I also saw one married gay couple where the guys were in their 60's. They actually looked really good together.
If I was gay I would probably stay in the closet to be honest, so marriage would be out of the question. I would support my son (if I had one) if he was gay though. I would also support my daughter (if I had one) if she was a lesbian.
My question is do some women turn lesbian because they resent/hate men? I feel like I got that impression somewhere at some time in my life. I would be disappointed if my daughter was Lesbian for that reason. Loving women because you hate men is not healthy in my opinion because your love is not coming from a good place, like the love is tainted. A lesbian should love women because she genuinely loves them."Are you serious? You're bleeping THAT girl?" - jen1447Comment
