I like to use the alcohol analogy. Some people can have an occasional drink alone or with friends. Others end up lying in the gutter with a bottle of fortified wine in a paper bag. I don't think the issue is porn itself, but rather the effect on the particular person in question.

I agree with that Rcorey, I think some people can and some people can't handle any various number of things... however if they quit checking ID's for alchohol purchases, and made booze free while some can still pay for the fancier stuff ... if the beer fairy dropped a 6 pack off at every door step, of course people could choose to drink or not drink but... we'd probably have a lot more people in the gutter.. which is what I think is happening with the excess porn. Guys are starting younger and younger, its more accessible than ever before, they have it on demand and free and its changing the sexual orientation of a lot of men. I don't mean changing it gay or straight.. I mean changing it from people in person to images on monitors.

I mean before it dominated the internet guys still had to use their imaginations A LOT... a boy might sneak a victoria secret catalog for 'inspiration' but would have to fantasize what the private parts look like... they could get the courage to buy a playboy and get the goods but again it would take some fantasy because they'd only have so many options.

Now they can just google, red head, short hair, large areolas, shaved up top but with hairy butt, short with 2 freckles on her inner thigh and BAM delivered... they don't have to fantasize they just get spoon fed what ever they think up.

Watching a girl swallow, spit, choke bend over, now wait take 2 guys, no 3... no lets get some lesbians in here... etc etc... its leading to sexual A.D.D that no one woman could ever compete with.

I think HD has a good point - but on the other hand movies are full of exaggerations of real life. Whether its driving fast, extreme sports, excessive wealth, unrealistic physical appearances, even sports "highlights". Now with better computer graphics we even have Avatar with unreasonable expectations for entire ecosystems. Do you think the problem is worse for porn or affects the entire entertainment industry?

I think ya'll have a very good point here. One of the actual few intelligent things my ex husband ever had to say was that he thought that if you watched a lot of porn, that it would desensitize you and eventually you would need different and weirder things to turn you on. I think in a big way he was right.

It's not porn's fault when things go wrong. It's the fault of the person behind the screen. Looking up a fantasy or something "kinky" in the form of porn does not damage sex life or the way a man feels for his woman by itself. But something is definitely wrong with men who use it as an escape. I just wish they didn't drag women down with them. Men who can't handle real women should stick to porn or start therapy. Otherwise, they should leave real women alone.

My boyfriend and I are very visual people, and we do watch porn if not together then on our own time. I'm not turned on by the image of a particular man or woman, but it does help me to visualize my boyfriend and I doing something like it We actually got a lot of creative and pleasant sex positions from watching porn. Also, I still think it's healthy to look at other people if we find them attractive... I think it's just human nature. It's not like he's gonna run up to her and start having sex with her, but he will mention to me, "She looks cute" and if I find her cute also, obviously I will agree. But then again, we are both bi so maybe it cancels out a little... I have learned from the feminist point of view that it is bad to objectify women, but honestly I do believe that we all objectify one another. We look at things that interest us... Mainstream has just taken it to another level by introducing different ways of panning their camera lenses over women's bodies. I honestly wouldn't mind going to a strip club either; the only reason why I wouldn't is because most strip clubs don't serve very good food, I've heard.
