Then the question is if one party does not live up to their vows, what are the moral constraints on the other? Marriage vows are supposed to be life-long, but many people believe that divorce is acceptable in some situations.
For me, I do not think marriage vows are very important - in a happy marriage the vows aren't needed, and if they are needed, then maybe divorce is better. I would certainly never want my wife to do something for me because of a sworn vow - I only want her to do things for me because she loves me.
