Thanks to everyone who has posted, I had the essure put in may 2009 and ever since my lower abdomen has been sensative to the touch. at my physical the doctor pushed there, i flinched, she said does that hurt? i said yes, she said that's wierd, there aren't any organs there. She ignored the problem, so i let it go. then a month ago, during "relations" it felt as though i had a knife inside me, i screamed in pain it hurt so bad. i went to the dr, she checked for stds, obviously negative, but then she let it go. now whenever i eat anything i get sharp pain and nausea. I get headaches all the time. I didn't think it could be essure until i was talking to the nurse and saying outloud when the trouble started made it click that that is when i had essure. so i got online and found this site, wish i had found it before i had it done! Now i think i'm going to try a different doctor and try to get some answers. i can't stand the pain anymore.Comment

This is my first response/posting. I'm not really the "computer wiz"! Anyway, I had the Essure procedure done in 11/08- I knew that evening after I got home from the Drs. office that something didn't seem the same or not feel right for lack of better words. I had heavy bleedng for weeks along with constant cramping. After a while the bleeding somewhat regulated and the cramping would mainly come before and during my period. I did call my physician who assured me everything was fine. In 8/09 I started having more severe cramping, and by 1/10 the pain in my right side and back became to be unbearable. I immediatley called my dr. and went in for an exam to be told that there was "no way" it could be the Essure procedure. They did some blood work(of course) and an ultrasound, and put me back on birth control to regulate my period. Now my concern is that after my procedure they were supposed to call me to set my appt. up to have an HSG, which they never did. So when I went back to the Dr. and was asked why that wasn't in my chart, I responded that I was never given an appt. to have it done. I know that my physicians should be doing more than they are. I've read many other women discuss the same similar situation. I don't know what to do. I'm at the point where I need to go to another Dr., but who knows who you can trust. An action needs to be taking in reference to this sterilization option. It's terrible to go through pain to the point where it interfers with my ability to parent my children like I would like to. I have 4 children, and on days I'm in pain, real pain, I can't be active or playful. I just feel like balling up and crying. That's not what I want my children to see, but since their fathers job requires him to be away for periods at a time, I or we have no choice. So I guess what I'm asking is if there is anyone with any advice as to what my next step should be please let me know it would be greatly appreciated?!Comment

All I can suggest is that you all read from the beginning of 400 posts of this thread.
There is alot of advise and people that have shared what they have done and women whom have supported everyone on this thread.. that sometimes needs time out for themselves..
I am sure you will find ways to enquire further by looking into this futher on this thread.
It has worked for some, but it seems to me that it's the un-qualifications of Doctors that do it, and their support that seems to be the reason why there are so many issues at hand and for that I am sorry.

Hi, I had the essure done in October of 08 and about a month later I had severe lower abdominal pain and was hospitalized. They did several CT Scans and MRI and told me I had a small bowel obstruction. After further testing they determined that I didn't have an obstruction and sent me home. 2 weeks later I was back and hospitalized again for the same pain. Finally they looked at the previous CT Scans and found that my left coil and dislodged and was floating in my uterus. The ob/gyn was called down and told me that there was no way this was causing me any sort of pain. 2 Weeks later I had the floating coil surgerically removed and my tubes tied. I still have a coil on the right side. A month later I was having more pain this time is was up in my upper abdomin area. I was referrred to my Gastro and had a colonoscopy done. Nothing found. 2 months later, back in the ER more pain. I was sent for testing on my gallbladder, came back normal. Gastro did an endocsopy and came back fine. He pushed the issue and sent me to a surgoen and I had my gallbladder removed. Turns out it was bad. Couple weeks later, still same pain back in the ER. Had another endoscopy with ultrasound...Nothing. Was referred to Cardiologist, complete cardiac workup...nothing. Still having pain. I was never tested for Nickel when they did my essure procuedure and ever since I've been having these problems. I've gone through 24K in medical since January. Could this be related to the essure procedure? I was prefectly healthy before this happened???Comment

Ladies I think this procedure is much harder for drs to perform than they want to admit. Possibly due to fact that each woman is different. I also believe that due to the problems drs are having that it also is a product problem. I strongly urge all that have had problems to make a report to the fda. This is the only way that the info can be documented.Comment

Hi Ladies
I have finally had the Essure REMOVED!!!! I HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!! The day of surgery I still had osme leg and sciatic nerve pain, but the next day, I wanted to run a marathon if I would not have been so sore!!!
the day after surgery, I developed a bladder infection from the surgery. Just yesterday, I began having back pain in my kidney area and beleive that a kidney stone is most likely possible. Will find out hopefully tomorrow.
I just want you all to know that you are not crazy and I had to find a doctor and convince him that it was the essure causing my pain. There is no medical explaination of my pain, all I know is that things are better and I feel fabulous!!! no more tiredness or fatique, either.
My doctor is amazed and doesn't know really what to say, but I am making my doctor file a report with Essure and I am planning to file the FDA report.
Thank you all for convincing me that I was not crazy!!!!!Comment
