Hello all, I had the Essure done almost four years ago, right after I felt great, I went home and could take care of my 3 children with ease... I was so happy to have sex without worrying if I would get pregnant. About 3 months later I couldn't have my HSG because I did not have insurance. For 3 years every time I ovulate or have my period I m in severe pain, I can almost feel the egg bounce off the coil and I have to take Ibprophen and lay down. I got so sick of feeling that way that I went on birth control pills to stop ovulation all together. Once on the pill I had a huge piece of hard white stuff come out of me, I went to the doctor and she said she didn't know what it could be. It's now been a couple of months and I am off the birth control and I now feel like I may be pregnant, my breasts are sore and I had a little spotting this morning, my period is not due for another week or so. I am so confused... It just doesn't seem like any doctors really give a . Oh yeah a year into having the Essure I lost my sex drive completely, gained weight, had headaches and was extremely constipated...Please help! -
Yes
I had the same procedure in '08, my tubes took a year to show that they were both "plugged". My dr even showed me on the montior, and yes they were blocked. In this last year my periods have been super heavy & very painful. I found out last wk that I am 6wks pregnant, we confirmed this Monday that the baby is in the uterus and the dr is totally stumped on how I could have gotten pregnant.Comment

Thanks!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for this thread. Because of you girls I decided to ditch essure and go with a routinary tubal ligation. IM GLAD A DID IT! I dont have to wait 6 months to be sure tubes are closed and none of that nonsense. My conscience is clear and Im in no fear that the coils will go somewhere or whatever. If I ever get pregnant again (because NOTHING is 100% effective) then it's God's choice.
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM ON MY HEART!!! Im so glad I found this post. God bless you all ladies!

I had an essure procedure done in February of 2010, ended up going under general anesthesia and being under for a while due to my ovarian tube spasming and them having to calm it down with lidocaine. I had a rough 3 days post and was really swollen afterwards for about 10 days, my face and cheeks were huge! I then proceeded on with life and didn't have a period for about 9 months...then boom, huge horrible pain cramping and feeling like I was hit with a bat in my low back, I started my period.. I called my OBGYN right away, she had me in for an appointment and they did blood tests and an ultrasound and diagnosed me with PCOS.. I started medication (metformin) for that and lost weight and it regulated my period. I recently have had this achy feeling in my (R) side by my ovary and alot of LB pain with my periods.. didn't think anything of it until 3 days ago was in excrutiating pain and had to go to my Md. I found out that I ruptured an ovarian cyst and have another one growing on that (R) ovary.. Anyone else have issues like this after the procedure?Comment

pain sometimes
Im just replying to all of the ladies who have had pain. Im 21 and had the essure at 19all due to being on Coumadin. My procedure was normal. Buy I had to be put fully under due to my heart and that's what my ob at MAYO said they had to do. Well it went fine. A few cramps for 2u days but after that I was good to go. However.... I DO get cramps where it feels kind of like the coils are rubbing when I ovulate. That's the only issue I have ever had. I actually plan on REVERSING the surgery in a couple years due to me and my bf wanting to have children. (Different meds I can get on Ti replace coumadin are available for the last trimester) anyway. Just wanted to share that story. But I haven't had issues besides when I can feel I ovulate. And i've always been able to tell when I ovulated now its just a lot more cramps. But not terrible like menstrual cramps.Comment

I had the essure done in august of 2009 and now i am due in one month, for anyone who gets pregnant with the essure dont worry and take it day by day i have pain meds because my hips spread to much because this is my third baby and luckily i now have a wonderful doctor who listens to me and is inducing me next month because both my kids were vbac and i almost had my second at my house so he would prefer me to labor in the hospital just in case something goes wrong i have just been nervous because the only birth with essure i have seen is the spokeswoman they had who had a healthy baby but no details on how her labor went so no one can seem to tell me what to expect for labor i can tell you i am having them removed after the baby and the doctor is just going to do the old fashioned tubal which i originally wanted. and yes the ultrasound tech showed me at six months where the coils were still in place they just cant explain it and as far as lawsuits i would check for malpractice or fraud depending on your situation my doc discharged me as a patient before i could even do the confirmation test and couldnt even refer me to someone else because he is no longer an ob gyn for many reasons and by essure standards that is fraud because he took compensation without finishing the procedure completely. so for anyone considering essure do the research and plan for the unexpected and good luck everyone.Comment
