I had my Essure procedure done in July of 2008 and was in horrible pain!
It took close to 2 hours for the doctor to place them and for me to recover. I cried and cried and needed several shots of pain medicine during the procedure. And this was after the Vallium and Vicodine I took prior to starting the procedure. After 2 kids, I thought that I had experienced the most pain I'd ever experience...nope! After the 2nd day I was fine, but the first day and the day of the procedure were pure ! I couldn't move without being in pain and I was so sick to my stomach. The doctor and nurse said that it would be fine and that my procedure wasn't normal and that it was harder than most. Lucky me...
It is now 2 years after the procedure and I now have sharp cramps in my ovaries, the right more than the left and have maybe 2 periods a year. When I have a bm it feels like I am being stabbed in my ovaries and when I am with my husband I feel the same thing. It is so bad that there are times where I make excuses not to or go and sit in the bathroom and cry afterwards.
I am going in to have my yearly done and demanding an ultrasound and more to see why this is happening to me!!

to Angels watching... I will be having a laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy. I hear great things about it and I am so THANKFUL I get to keep my ovaries. My doctor told me since my tubes were completely closed around the coils, the only way to get them out would be doing a laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy. I am so glad to hear yours went so well and your doing great! I am ready to get this over with. Although I've been bleeding non stop it has been light for 2 weeks and now 2 days ago it came back full force with awful cramping and clotting again! I am so ready to get my life back!

        Essure Removal???

I was impulsive and emotional when I got my Essure implants back in 2005. I was 25 with 2 children. I was freshly divorced and fearful of having children with someone else who wouldn't love my children as much as their own...or so the theory went at the time. The only "side effect" my doctor told me of at that time was that it was PERMANENT. Well over the past 5 years my cycle has gone from 4 days to 6 or 7. I have been having horrible pains in the area of the inserts. I have a HIGH pain tolerance and for this pain to completely debilitate me for a couple days at a time is just insane. I went to the emergency room because I was afraid something was tearing or going to protrude from my tubes. I had ultrasounds, urinalysis, and had blood drawn all for them to tell me I am perfectly healthy and prescribed me Vicodin. After talking with my husband we are going to go ahead and pay the $4500 that it costs through Lakeshore Tubal Reversal Center. I would like to know if anyone has gone through this procedure and if so how they are feeling now. I do not want a hysterectomy or a tubal.
I have read so many forums about people who swear that they are fatigued and have aches that they never had until having this procedure among other issues. I have had the same problems since getting my inserts along with some weight gain. When I asked my doctor about these NEW problems he said the pain was from me OVULATING and as for the weight he suggested I get on the MEDIFAST diet. (He turned into such a sell out it is sad and frustrating) It infuriates me when these doctors pass off any of these pains as premenstrual or ovulation... I know my body and this is not right! I want these things OUT!!!!!

I have had heavier bleeding since i had mine put in back in 2007..i think it was 07..pretty much the same reasons you had for getting it done. now I totally regret it. I've looked into Lake Shore. I'd like to get mine reversed, not just removed. If you don't mind, please update on how the removal went and if you feel any better afterward.

(side note, I also think I may be sensitive to the nickle in them...i was not told there was nickle before i had it done...but it's not a huge reaction or anything, but it is bothersome)

i was one of the second ones to have it done 4 years ago and they say they only have 4 years history on. ive had 2 tubals and now i am pregnant again 2months along. ive always had pain in my pelvic area and my back. the doctors tell me i have to have a historectomy to get them out and i know some ppl dont have too and i want to find out what doctors can take them out with out a historectomy. i also want to start a lawsuit against them but they tell me i cant because i signed something. they also say my baby wont make it because the coils thin your cervix wall.

what is the name of the doctor that took your coils out? everyone tells me that i have to have a hysterectomy but i dont want to have one and if there is a doctor who can remoce them without giving me a hysterectomy then i would LOVE to talk to him! if you could let me know his name and number it would be greatly appreciated thank you so much! i have had two tubal pregnancies and now i am pregnant 2months and it is not a tubal but the doctors say it will not make it due to the coils thinning the cervix wall. i would relaly like to talk to a new doctor and get another opinion.

                      Essure success

I just have to post my story after reading all of yours.

I am 28 years old and I have one child. I had him at a very young age and have known for many years that I have not wanted any more children. I did research on my own and found out about this procedure. I discussed it with my doc and she aggreed to proceed. She chose to do this in the hospital as an outpatient procedure. I showed up around 8 am and was done and ready to go home around 10 am. I had some slight cramping that was alleviated with Ibuprofen. I also had light spotting for about 2 weeks. Three months later I had the HSG (which was very painful by the way) which showed complete blockage of my tubes. This was 3 years ago and I have not had any problems at all. I am very happy with the way this turned out and believe it was the right choice for me.

I believe there is a large population (I believe it is close to half a million by now) out there that has had the essure procedure and it was successful. Whe you choose to have any type of procedure you are agreeing that you understand that there are risks associated with said procedure. I do understand how frustrating it can be when those complications happen to you, but that is not to say that it can or will happen to everyone. Most of these posts that I see online are about people complaining but that is only because they have something to complain about. People who have had a successful procedure are happily carrying on with their lives.

Just wanted to add my two cents here to let people know there are success stories. Any questions just ask. Thanks!
