Essure led me to Hysterecotomy
Hi, I am new to this forum but after reading posts for the last month, I feel I need to share my story with you all.
In Jan 2009 I was diagnosed at 40 with breast cancer after radiation treatments decided to go with the Essure since hormonal birth control was out of the question. I had it done in 4/09 along with an ablation since my periods had been heavy and horrible cramping . All went well, so we thought, fast forward to June 2010 starting having some cramping and pain in my lower right side, which continued until August on and off.
On Aug 18th it was so bad I drove right to my OB-GYN and they saw me right away. Ultrasound was done saw my right fallopian tube was "inflammed" from what nobody knew. So we opted to do surgery and take out the fallops along with the Essure coils, I wasn't having any children, so I am okay with this. While he was in there he was surprised to find that the right coil "migrated" from the fallop and imbedded itself to the top side of my uterus, which also caused a small infection so after consulting with him and some long thinking on my end, I am having a complete hysterectomy tomorrow. He told me that he has never seen this before and was shocked, said he shared it with the product rep.
It's just frustrating cause I never should be having to get more in debt because of a procedure that I did research on and talked to other women who had it but maybe at that time I just wanted all the good feedback and didn't want to know that things could go wrong.
Good luck to everybody out there who is having problems and those of you who are lucky enough to still be okay.Comment

Hey! Don't feel bad, I didn't even do any research at all. I just trusted my dr blindly. I hope your surgery goes well and I strongly encourage to make a report to the FDA. You should also request that your dr make a report. Making those FDA reports is the only way the real truth about this procedure will come out. My original dr didn't make a report, the drs who removed them haven't made a report yet and the company has never made a report. If you have any questions about making the report, I'll be glad to try and help.
You take care & I hope you have a speedy recovery.Comment

Hello... I also had the essure procedure done, in July 2009 6 weeks after my 4th daughter was born. I was 26 at the time but with 4 children so I was ready to be done! My doc made it seem very easy and no problems, he was very laid back about it so I was too. I was fine for the first month, then I was getting sharp pains in both my sides right where the coils were placed. I went back to the doctor and was basically told I was crazy and I would be fine, it was the interim birth control pills that were causing the pain. Stopped taking them and didnt get my period for 2 months, took numerous pregnancy tests and after going to a different physician and starting medication I got my period back but ten times worse than anything I had ever dealt with before. I've developed pelvic inflammatory disease because of this procedure and some days I'm fine no problems at all, but the rest of the days I'm miserable, very tired and in terrible pain. I truly believe at this point I need to have it reversed and let my body get back to normal. I hope other women reading this do not allow their doctors passiveness get to them the way it got to me. I have so many other GYN problems because of this procedure, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I hope everyone stays happy & healthy! Hoping to find a doctor soon who will perform a reversal!!Comment

I'm very annoyed with my whole situation as well. I got mine done in march 2007. went back for my hsg (which hurts like crazy) to find out one coil was stuck into the side of my uterus. i go in to have my tube redone and to get the dr to take the coil out. he didnt do it and i thought he did. i've had pain for years now and trips in and out of the ER because the pain is so severe that i have thought I had an ectopic pregnancy or apendicitis. I'm tired of being on pain meds etc for and all the pain i've been living with. I've had 2 surgeries so far to try to get it fixed (with crappy military drs with little experience i might add) and now I'm going in to see a civiliian doctor and hoping for the best. he is going to go in with a hysterscope to try and get the one out of my uterus. however he thinks one of the coils is poking through my tube as well and wants to remove my tubes.
my questions. for those of you who ended up with hysterectomies or partials for the essure removal why did your doctors do it that way? Anyone have it removed from the uterine wall? I'm very nervous about another surgery and i dont want another failure. I am looking up and calling drs for info as much as i can so this is hopefully fixed. i've also heard they are fragile and shatter when drs try to remove them, anyone else hear this?
for those of you who have had this fresh done one doctor informed me that these can be twisted out like screws with a hysterscope instead of having to be cut open etc. however he said either it comes out or it doesnt.Comment

my story is exactly the same.I had the Essure put in about 1-1/2 yrs ago i am in so much pain in the first few days of my period i can not handle it. I don't take pain killers so there really is nothing i can do about it. I have been telling the OBGYN who did the surgey from the start something wasnt right,I went back again in Oct crying my eyes out insisting she remove it, She told me its very unlikely that its the Essure, she hasnt heard of any cases where there is a problem and she will contact the CO. to get info and call me , she never called. I made an App on monday they sent me to a different dr,He agrees with the first dr. He said we have done every test we can cat scan ulta sound .... theres nothing wrongl. its not the Essure its SO thin,Like a hair it cant be that. I told him i am 100% positive its the Essure. He told me well if I take it out I may have to pull, rip or cut your uterus to get it out or take it all the way out because its attached to your tube and uterus. ok I said do whatever it takes i cant deal with the pain..So because of this Essure I am now having a hysterectomy at 42, and no other problems before i had it implanted.
I can actually feel this implant inside of me. if i bend over its like it;s stabbing me..Has anybody thought of a class action suit againt the Co that makes Essure? If so please contact me at wingate6117gmail.comComment

I found this site because of my Essure. I looked at the risks and am not allergic to the nickel. I had them put in Oct of 09. Have had nothing but complications since, failed not one but two histops. and my left one is BAD. So I will be having a hysterectomy in Jan of 11. at the age of 37. No I do not want more children, but the idea of this is very scary.
I have a friend who had her's removed and had a tubal instead, but in one year I have so much damage that is now not an option.Comment
