Louise why is it affecting other parts of your life so much? I can understand this affecting a person's sex life, but everything else? No one's gonna know you have BV unless you say so specifically, or if they get into your pants!

Alright so I've been googling home remedies for this kind of thing, and came up with three biggies:

    - plain yogurt
    - garlic clove
    - tea tree oil

... all three of which can be applied on the outer or inside part of the vagina. I didn't have yogurt or garlic lying around, but I did apply tea tree oil last night, and it seems to be helping to reduce the funny discharge.

I'll continue with just the oil for another day or two, and then if things don't become drastically better, I'll use all three methods at once.

    Will keep you posted!

If you are using garlic, you want organic. Peel it and either crush it slightly or make little cuts in it. I've never had BV but have used it for yeast and found it effective. The cloves do vary in potency, so be careful. I actually burned myself with one that was particularly strong.

WC I have yeast... I can't figure out what the difference between that and BV is, but there's no really big ongoing thread on yeast so thought I'd post here.

How long would you recommend leaving it in, to prevent burning yourself?

I did the garlic as a supository at night and just wore some cotton panties. Used it for 7 days and you do get a bit of a garlic odor unless you eat lots of greens or take chlorophyll. Start with slightly crushed clove, the next night put a couple of cuts in one and then a few more the next night. You have to do that to releast the Allicyin (sp?) the active agent in the garlic. Do a search on Susun Weed, she is a natural healer and has quite a bit of info on this.

            Inserting folic acid

I've had bv pretty much all the whole time since last Summer. It was gone for about 3 weeks after I did a 10 days of metrogel but returns full force after my period and after sex. I have been taking folic acid, vitamin D drinking a gallon of water a day. Also eating a lot more vegetables and less meat and dairy. Im very disappointed that none of this has helped much after 3 months, I have really bad discharge and odor.

Has anyone done tried doing inserts with the folic acid tablets? I broke one in half and inserted it, I also washed the area with undiluted vinegar I am hoping it helps. Has anyone else tried this with success? Im desperate to get this under control... Thanks

I wouldn't recommend using undiluted vinegar, as it is strongly acidic, and I would therefore have thought it too strong for that delicate area! I'm not sure of the PH of the vagina, but I believe it is weakly acidic.

I agree with anothersarah....undiluted vinegar could b 2 harsh. on the other note,

2 me washing the area doesnt really do the job. i think diluting the vinegar and dousching with that helps a great deal. ive done it several times the vinegar breaks down the discharge as the liquid leaks out of u, the discharge should b cloudy. do it for a couple of nights before u go to bed and u will no longer smell the odor.

                  Hey

thanks for the reply, Yeah it does effect my whole life really bad, because i cant control it, i have got to the point i change alot of times a day i get 3 o showers a day, I dont like being around anyone no more, not many people understand, or want to no. the smell it noticeable most days, unless i can control it to a certain extent, but never fully goes away, I have tryed garlic inserted and out i used this for few weeks, it did help but never cleared away and the stench of garlic dosnt help in public either.
Ive tryed douching with vinager numerous times, tee tree oil, everything i try has different effects helps a lil but then straight back it comes.
i use pro-b tablets orally every day and work out, also have been inserting to vagania with natural yogurt it helps for so long then back again, it just dosnt go away, Its so discomforting and can be embarrassing, that its effect every part of my life, i cant go to work, im too self consious, and its just uncomfortable most of the day, No matter how much things i do to change the way i live nothing really helping. I feel like im constantly moist even no i air as much as possible, cant seem to win.
And the gyno and docs dont have a clue, who do u turn too??
Its an every day battle even just to go to the shops i hate going shopping wit this problem all i do every day is have hope and faith that this problem gets cured. I dont no if i can fight this problem much longer its changed me soo much already.

Did your bv ever go away when you took metronidazole? It seemed to help me when I took it but it never seemed like it completely went away. I have been taking Fem-dophilus for eight months now and it seems to help better then anything, but it has not ever went completely away in the year and how ever long I have this awful thing. I have a prescription for oral clindamycin, but have not taken it yet.

I can't stop giggling to myself because I thought I was the only person who opted for the natural remedies. I have been suffering from BV for years and I have a little book on home remedies. I can't find any plain yogurt, I'm terrified by getting burned by the garlic and How do you apply the tea tree oil? I have found that soaking in a small tub of water, a cupful of chamomile tea and two drops of lavender is very helpful. And P.S. yes I would like a response to the question about the tea tree oil and the garlic if you don't mind. LOL Thanks a bunch and I hope this is an ongoing thread because I've thumbed through and see that a lot of women have this same problem. To some of the other ladies, don't let it ruin your life, I don't believe it to be harmful....just a pain in the bazooka!!!
