The thing that is lost with comparing womens insecurity to breasts and mens insecurity penis size.. is the fact that most men don't log on to their shared computer with their gf and have to duck and cover from all the large penis pics she's been googling when he wasn't home :|

Men don't have to drive by billboards of packages smooshed into shorts with the head peeking out, men dont' have to accidentally show up to the bar with their chick on wet mens briefs night and have to hold her hand while she ogles big weeners on stage.

Women don't break their neck to stare at a mans package as he walks by... I could go on for days. My point is just that men give women every reason in the world to be insecure of their bodies... and women rarely are the cause for men feeling insecure about their package.

Definitely second this. There is no way to actually compare a man's insecurity to the insecurity brought onto women by men and society in general. That list of inconsistency is long, very long. Women do not sit there at dinner with our SO staring at a man's package as he walks by. Men do not have to sit there with their heads down as a woman yells "ooohhhh yyyeeaaahhhh" to a man in shorts. Women are not out searching for speedo car washes and make a big deal about wanting the car washed as soon as the sign is seen. Women are not getting into car accidents from doing the double-take stare while driving past a man walking down the street. Men do not have to listen to media advertising that only large penises are the best ones. Men are not told by women that in order to be liked they should be like the ones in photoshop pictures. Men are not constantly bombarded with "just get surgery and all women will love you". Men are not told that an abnormally large penis is the only way a man can really be a man in a woman's eye.

I agree, I never considered it quite like that.

The thing I would add is that penis and breast size insecurity both pertain to a perceived inadequacy, in that respect I believe they are comparable, the difference is as you say that women constantly have big boobs in their faces 24/7, whereas men don't suffer with from equivalent exposure. Women can drastically alter their breast size though, relatively safely and affordably, whereas men can't.

I don't think we give men enough credit here. They know that these women aren't real. They know it's photoshopped or from surgery. They also have to watch commercials about pills for enlargement or erections which sends them the message that they must not be good enough. And it's fairly commonplace to make penis size jokes from men and women.

Something I think makes it HARDER on men (no pun intended) is that they don't have the outlets we do. It is very well known that models, billboards etc... send out bad messages to girls and women. We can talk about it everywhere. TV shows talk about it constantly. We are talking about it right now! But where is there an outlet for men to express their insecurities? I know my bf is insecure about things but he doesn't have the same kind of support system women do. Cause it's not manly to talk about self image. It's manly to hold it in and not express yourself.

I think this is comparing apples and oranges here. Just my opinion.

Men can as well. The man's penis extends under the skin and in to the lower abdominal area, look at any anatomical diagram and it will be seen that more than an inch is there. All the doc does is make an incision and pull an amount out that was already present. It is really not that big of a procedure and will cost roughly the same as implants. The difference is that men are not doing it nearly as much because they are not under the same ridicule that women are that they should go under the knife to "improve themselves". Men simply do not understand the pressure that women experience at the hand of men thinking that bigger is better. Women are not projecting that same type of intense insecurity onto men, if we were then the enlargement surgeries would certainly be more prevalent.

I agree. I was chatting to a girl the other week and one thing we agreed on, a point which she made which I have repeated here several times today is that when it comes down to the crunch, men cannot do anything about the size of their penis, whereas a boob job is a relatively safe, affordable procedure.

She said, 'I don't know what a man with a small penis is supposed to do', I replied 'earn a lot of money', and she laughed in agreement.

If a man has erectile dysfunction, manifesting in no longer getting long and hard, he can have a pump implanted that will allow him to pump up an erection. I knew a man from the USA who had that procedure done in Thailand and he was happy with the resulting return of a sex life. The ligaments attaching the penis to the pubic bone can be cut, leaving more of the penis to project from the body but reducing the stability of the erect penis. Beads and other implants can be placed under the skin to increase diameter and causing a sensation somewhat like ribbed condoms for the woman. There is a significant chance of bad outcomes in a lot of these types of surgery. I suppose breast augmentation wasn't always as safe as it is now.

We are. I hear it more and more too. I hear and see more commercials to increase penis size than I hear about increasing breast size.

The other thing to consider is that the penis is the male sex organ. No one thinks that large breasts are necessary to please a man sexually, but a large enough penis is necessary to please a woman with penile penetration. I agree that penises don't get the same attention, but it's because they're not as visible and are more private. That makes it a more sensitive issue in some ways. Many men, I would guess the majority, have some degree of concern and insecurity about their size and would like to be larger. Even if they please their woman and know it's not very important some part of them secretely wants to be hung like a horse. The exception would probably be men with large penises that have had issues because of their size.
