Aloe Cadabra All-Natural Water-Based Lube Is A Must-Have
I’ve got a confession to make: I’m a lube virgin. Correction…I was a lube virgin.
When I was given the opportunity to try Aloe Cadabra, I jumped at the chance.
As I waited for the product to arrive in the mail, I thought to myself, “Does it even make sense for me to test-drive a lube?”
I’d always been one of those women who never had a problem staying ready…if you know what I mean.
If anything, I had the opposite issue. Even so, I was excited to try something new just to see what it might lend to my sex life.
And oh, boy…did this water-based lube lend. A LOT!
Not only did I get to test the original product, but I killed two lubes with one stone by also test driving the company’s Naked Strawberry flavored version.
So without further adieu, let’s explore what makes Aloe Cadabra an ideal choice if you’re in the market for an organic, natural lube — and why I gave this product 5 out of 5 stars for both product versions I tried.
For once, something isn’t too good to be true!
What Makes Aloe Cadabra An Ideal Natural Lubricant?
Who would be better at creating an organic, natural lube than two organic farmers who also happen to be married?
Their dedication to integrity and safety motivated them to develop their Aloe Cadabra product line, which is FDA-cleared, pH-balanced, and serves as a 2-in-1 personal lubricant and vaginal moisturizer.
Additionally, Aloe Cadabra has an osmolality of 172 mOsm/kg, which is well below the World Health Organization’s recommended amount of less than 380 mOsm/kg.
Centering around aloe vera — an ingredient loved and trusted by many — this approach to natural lube makes it possible to amplify both solo and couple’s play while remaining kind to sensitive skin.
When it comes to my lady parts, I prefer to shave but sometimes I can be hesitant about engaging in sexual activity right away because even my own body’s fluids can cause itching and irritation.
So you can imagine my concern about using a personal lubricant for the first time — specifically in that area.
However, the fact that Aloe Cadabra is a water-based lube that’s organic and contains soothing aloe vera allowed me to relax and just go with the flow.
I am happy to say that while using both the unflavored and flavored versions, my skin never reacted once. That was definitely a first for me and such a pleasant surprise.
For someone who has battled eczema her whole life, having a product I know I can rely on to not contribute to my skin issues is a Godsend!
The Pros And Cons Of Aloe Cadabra
After looking at all the Aloe Cadabra reviews and the buzz surrounding it, I already knew I was easily one of many to give this product a well-deserved and big thumbs up.
Of course, nothing’s perfect…so if you’re wondering whether this is the best water-based personal lubricant for you, the following pros and cons might help you make a decision.
The Pros Of Aloe Cadabra
- It is a 2-in-1 personal lubricant and vaginal moisturizer
- It is pH balanced
- It has an osmolality of 172 mOsm/kg
- It is good for sensitive skin
- It is FDA-cleared organic and natural
- It is made from safe ingredients
- It is edible and vegan
- It is non-sticky and doesn’t smell bad
- It won’t stain fabric
- It can be used with condoms, dental dams, and sex toys
The Cons Of Aloe Cadabra
- It is not as long-lasting as some lube and requires reapplication
- It doesn’t come with a pump dispenser
Many aloe-based products might not be suitable for those with a latex allergy, as aloe plants contain natural latex. However, a representative from Aloe Cadabra told us that “only decolorized aloe derived from the inner leaf gel is used in the production of Aloe Cadabra.”
The company’s USDA Organic Aloe Vera distributors said that this portion of the “inner filet” is latex-free, as the latex found between the rind and inner leaf filet is completely removed from all of the products they manufacture.
As with all personal lubricants, however, it is always smart to patch-test new products if you have sensitive skin.
Honestly, when I considered what people perceived as “cons” about this product, I found that I had no problem with any of them.
Yes, water-based lubes are known for not lasting as long as oil-based or silicone lubes. If you’re not sure what the differences are between different types of lube, you can check out our guide on all things lube.
Even though it didn’t last forever, I didn’t find that to be a hindrance in my case.
I will state that this is likely because I don’t suffer from vaginal dryness or painful sex — and for that, I’m extremely thankful.
Even when the lubricant began to “dry up” through absorption into the skin, my partner had no problem reaching for the bottle and applying more.
In fact, each reapplication turned him on even further because he knew it meant extended playtime!
Sure, Aloe Cadabra doesn’t come with a pump dispenser but that’s a “first world problem” I can deal with.
The lube is thick and not watery so it’s not like it gets everywhere when you pour it out. As long as there’s no mess, whether a product has a pump dispenser doesn’t factor into my decision to use it.
What About The Aloe Cadabra Flavored Version?
I want to take a second to talk about the Naked Strawberry version of Aloe Cadabra.
Pros Of Aloe Cadabra Flavored Lube:
- It shares the same pros as its unflavored counterpart
- It has no sugar
- It has no added preservatives
- It is flavored with organic ingredients (flavoring and stevia)
- It is deliciously edible
- It is not sticky
Cons Of Aloe Cadabra Flavored Lube:
- It is water-based and doesn’t last as long as other lubes, requiring reapplication
- Like its unflavored counterpart, it doesn’t come with a pump dispenser
- It is aloe-based and may not be good for those with a latex allergy
Whenever something is flavored, I get a little nervous because oftentimes the taste is downright gross or straight-up overpowering.
The strawberry flavor of this lube was faint…definitely perceptible but subtle.
I was surprised and pleased by this. Just because something is deemed “edible” doesn’t mean it has to taste like liquid candy.
The unflavored aloe-based lube from Aloe Cadabra is also edible and that taste test was pretty much what I figured it would be: it didn’t taste like much of anything.
I’m a big fan of aloe water so I was already prepared for that.
When it was time for solo play, I enjoyed using the unflavored version with my trusty vibrator — I prefer using the flavored option with a partner.
Not only was it a different experience for me — in a good way! — the silky feel actually motivated me to extend the duration of my playtime because I didn’t want it to end!
The Ingredients In Aloe Cadabra And Their Safety
The fact that each bottle of Aloe Cadabra is made up of over 95% organic aloe vera is one of the biggest selling points for this product.
Let’s take a closer look at the other key ingredients you’ll find in the unflavored version of this personal lubricant.
- Vitamin E Oil: This ingredient’s natural ability to lubricate while soothing a woman’s vaginal lining makes it perfect for combatting issues like vaginal dryness and painful sex, as well as symptoms often brought on by menopause.
- Xanthan: This sugar-like compound is organic-compliant and used in many products like medicine and laxatives. In lubricant, it serves as a thickening and stabilizing agent — put a small amount on the back of your hand and flip it upside down…it won’t budge.
- Citric Acid: This is a widely-used ingredient naturally found in many fruits and veggies. Aloe Cadabra uses it as a means of balancing the lubricant’s pH.
- Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate: Found in a variety of berries and fruits, this is a popular preservative combo safely used in many cosmetics and skincare products.
Additionally, the flavored variations of Aloe Cadabra’s vaginal moisturizer and personal lubricant include the following safe ingredients, as well:
- Organic Vanilla Planifolia Concentrate: Extracted from the bean of the vanilla plant, this skin-conditioning agent works to condition, protect, and smooth skin.
- Organic Essential Oils And/Or Organic Stevia: These ingredients are added to the flavored Aloe Cadabra products for taste and scent.
Still thinking to yourself, “Is Aloe Cadabra safe?”
The easy answer is: Yes.
The great thing about using an aloe-based personal lubricant is the simplicity and safety of the ingredients.
There are no toxic chemicals or crazy long, scientific gobbledygook, and you’ll find no parabens, glycerin, petroleum glycol, silicon, or gluten in Aloe Cadabra’s products.
The best water-based personal lubricants — and lubes in general — to consider should rank low on the osmolality scale.
Lubricants that have high osmolality will actually dry out your skin instead of properly moisturizing it.
When this happens, the skin becomes chafed and irritated, making it more prone to yeast infections, bacteria, and even STDs or STIs.
Luckily, Aloe Cadabra falls very low on the scale at just 172 mOsm/kg, yet another sign that this brand stands by its dedication to manufacturing products that uphold the highest health and safety standards.
How To Use Aloe Cadabra
Even a first-time player in the lube game — like me — will have little trouble figuring out how to use Aloe Cadabra. Still, I read the directions for use on the side of the box to be on the safe side.
Because it is water-based, it’s perfectly fine to use as much of this product as you want. With no sticky, stinky residue left behind, once it absorbs into your skin, it’s prime and ready for reapplication.
Applying a few drops to your fingertips and/or sex toy is enough to get things going and the sleek, silky feel made my own experience extremely pleasurable.
This might be TMI, but after my first time using it with a partner, I was so exhausted that I passed out for the rest of the night — without cleaning up first.
When I woke the next morning, I was scared I’d have a scary situation “down there” in terms of mess.
I was pleasantly surprised — once again — that I didn’t have anything to clean up. The product had absorbed into my skin, leaving it soft, moisturized, and with no irritation or rash anywhere in sight.
I simply hopped into the shower and went about my business!
