Q: What Is Dry Humping?
A: Dry humping (also called dry sex or frottage) is a form of non-penetrative sex which simulates sexual intercourse.

This type of sexual activity is referred to as outercourse and avoids skin-on-skin contact and the exchange of sexual bodily fluids. It is often performed fully clothed, or through one’s underwear.

The term “dry humping” can often be the object of mockery.

However, it is usually the first type of sexual contact children or young adults will try out and is quite natural. Even with adolescents, it is a way to have sexual activity while still remaining a virgin.

Here’s a great modern take on dry humping.

To do it, a girl rubs her genitals against her partner’s thigh, pelvis or erection while remaining fully clothed. The repetitive motion and pressure causes friction and stimulates the clitoris, which can be quite pleasurable and even orgasmic.

For some teens, it may be the first way they experience orgasm.

While dry humping often refers to sexual activity between partners, it can also be performed during solo masturbation, rubbing the genitals against a cushion, the arm of a chair, or even a stuffed animal.

People who have a fetish for humping their stuffed animals are called plushophiles or plushies.

In furry fandom communities plushies make up about 1% of the community and sex between furries is called yiffing, which could consist of dry humping in fursuits while roleplaying as animals (animal anthropomorphism).

Humping is also a popular form of lesbian sex, although it may be more wet than dry and done naked. This form of sexual activity is called tribadism, tribbing, scissoring, or frottage.

Another type of dry humping is when a guy places his penis between his partner’s thighs to simulate intercourse. This type of activity is termed “intercrural sex” as well as femoral or interfemoral intercourse.

Word of warning though!

Dry humping with your clothes off is not recommended if you want to stay away from STIs, including herpes, HPV and pubic lice. And, believe it or not (actually believe it because this is possible, if rare) you can get pregnant from dry humping if sperm gets inside your vulva.
